The
2235 Third Street project site covers
approximately 1.25 acres in the heart
of San Francisco’s Central Waterfront,
bounded by Third and Illinois Streets,
between 19th and 20th Streets.
The surrounding neighborhood
is now transforming from a historically
mixed-use residential-industrial district
to a predominately residential and commercial
corridor. Hundreds of multi-family live/work
units have been built nearby in recent
years, and the district is being rezoned
to accommodate more housing and other
uses. Heavy industry will remain along
the Bay just east of the project, including
the Port of San Francisco’s largest
existing maritime tenant, San Francisco
Drydock.
The project is uniquely situated
along the new high capacity Third Street
Light Rail line and across from the historic
shipyards at Pier 70. The Dogpatch residential
neighborhood, recently designated as
a San Francisco historic district, is
adjacent to the project; the popular
Potrero Hill neighborhood lies a few
blocks west. The sunny bayside location
is close to downtown and all it offers,
and just a few blocks south of SF’s
new Mission Bay development.
